Beauty Finds: MAC vs Loew Cornell

I've been in searched for the Loew Cornell brushes for quite sometime now and the search has ended since I finally found them with the help of some forum friends, you know who you are ^_^ The 411 on these brushes for those who don't already know. Loew Cornell brushes are painting brush. Yes, you wont find them in any of your beauty store or counter since they are originally made for painting. They are one of the top brand as far as painting brushes are concern, very high end. So, you don't have to worry about the quality.

What so great about these brushes for all the makeup addict out there is that some of their brushes are dead end dupe for MAC brushes. You will be more informed by watching the video below.

Ok now the answer to the questions you been waiting for. Where can I get these brushes here in Malaysia? You all can extend your thanks to Craft Haven™ at One Utama for bringing these brushes here. YAY! They have many selection of Loew Cornell brushes but low in stock for most of the popular brushes. I went there last week in search of the MAC 239 dupe which is the Loew Cornell Maxine's Mop 3/8. You can't imagine how happy I am when they still have three of the brushes in stock. So, without thinking I bought two of them ^_^

They are super soft to the touch and does not poke

The Loew Cornell brushes price range from RM12 - RM40 for different type of brushes. The Maxine's Mop 3/8 retail at RM14.90. That's a lot of saving if you compare it to MAC 239 which retails at RM103 @_@ *butimstillgoingtogetitonceicanaffordit*

Review: My Youtube Guru's

I never been a Youtube fan until mid last year when I started watching makeup tutorial. Its not because I hate it, its just because the videos take to long to load on my broadband line and I don't think I have anything to watch from there.

Like I said, I started watching it mid last year around July 2008. I was trying to find the right look for me to do for my pre-graduation night. I kinda have the idea on what I want it to look like, is just that I have no idea on how to do it. So, I did some research on google and forums just to find like picture and stuff. On one of the forums I went to, they mention about RiceBunny a.k.a MichellePhan channel on Youtube. So, her channel was the first one I watched and I started to search for other videos and OMG I have no idea there was a lot of them. I found faffinatex3 a.k.a Aubrey and I thought her makeup skill was pretty and easy to follow and since then I have subscribe to a lot of gurus. They really helped me whether I'm looking for a product review or to learn new makeup skills.

I know maybe some people would say that, if you want to learn how to put on makeup why watched it on Youtube? Are those gurus qualified? Why not take classes?

Well I am going to take classes in the future and the question whether these gurus are qualified or not is not a problem to me. There are those who I followed are professional makeup artist but there are also some who only do freelance job and some who are just your average everyday girl who are willing to share their experience and views. To me the more info and views I can get, the better.

But I do have some tips that people should remember when following a guru.
  1. Don't just follow one guru religiously. Get as many points of view you can get.
  2. Don't go buying everything the gurus recommend. What suitable for her doesn't mean it will be suitable for you to.
  3. Try to look for gurus who has the closes features to you. What looks good on her doesn't mean it will work on you.
  4. Know yourself first. For example your skin type, your eye shape, your skin tone etc.

Bellow are some of the gurus I followed (in random order):
AllThatGlitters21
EnKoreMakeup
fafinettex3
julieg713
juicystar07
kuuipo1207
lollipop26
MakeupByTiffanyD
MakeupGeekTV
MichellePhan
pursebuzz
pinkiecharm
pixiwoo
whatstyleistonickel
xsparkage
If you decided to watched these ladies or guys in action don't forget to rate, comment and subscribe.

Hope this post will be helpful to all you ladies out there who is starting to use makeup or just want to have fun with it (^_^)

Review: The Face Shop

Went to The Face Shop (TFS) today.
Originally went there to get a facial wash since the one I'm using right now is almost out.

As usual the sale person will paster you and "helping" making the buying decision.
Hello! its not my first time buying TFS products, I so know what I want.
and as always I let her talk me into buying whatever, acting like it was my first time and nodding politely. She was convincing me to get their new nose strip thingy. Since I had a bad "blackheads day" that day. I wasn't interested because it was liquid type but something else did caught my attention.

TFS came out with something new called Green Tea blackhead remover gommage pack.
I don't really now what gommage means I guess its Korean or something.

Its easy to use and you only need to use it like twice a week only.
You use it before you wash your face just make sure you apply it on dry clean face.
Yes, your skin need to be dry. Apply evenly on the area with visible pore or blackhead, wait for about 1 minute or so than exfoliating with light rubbing movement. Its kinda like a scrub without using water. After that you can rinse it with lukewarm water.

I don't know how affective it is yet. Might do a review on it after a month usage.
Hope its good though, I really hate my blackhead and wide pores. Its such a bugger -_-'

Owh yeah, I finally received my brushes from Everyday Minerals today. Yay!
Will talk on those on another post.
